The Grampians & sünnipäevad/The Grampians & birthdays

Hei!

Me ööbisime majas, mis asus suure järve kõrval.

Nüüd hiljuti tulin just tagasi Perthist, millest kirjutan järgmises postituses (muidu läheb liiga pikaks). Muidu elu tavaline, nagu alati. Ilm läheb üha soojemaks ja jõulutunnet pole üldse.

Hey!

So what have I been doing for the last couple of months? The last thing I told you about was my trip to Queensland. After that another one of my friends left to see more of Australia and I also felt like I needed to get out of Melbourne for a while so I went to Daylesford and the Grampians with my friend Emma and her family. It was so incredibly good to get out of the city for a while, you guys have no idea. You never really understand how tired you can get from the city till you finally get out.

Daylesford is a cute little town. We were staying in a house next to a huge lake. I didnt personally have that much time there because I arrived the day before we left to the Grampians, so I didnt really see much of the town. But from what I saw, it was cute nonetheless. I arrived around 8 PM and they picked me up from the train station. When we got to the house, we had some dinner, played some board games and I think we crashed around 11 PM or something like that. Next morning I managed to somehow get Em out of bed at 7 AM to go for a run around the lake which ended up being a really good idea because at least I saw a little bit more of the nature. After that we packed our stuff, went to a cafe and then drove to the Grampians.

The Grampians was incredible. We couldnt go hiking the first day there because of the rain but all of the days after that we did as much of hiking as we could. I dont know if you remember but when I first arrived in Melbourne, me and a couple of other au pairs did a road trip to WIlsons Prom, which was next to the ocean and quite mountainous. Comparing the Grampians to Wilsons Prom though, the Grampians was a lot drier and stony which ultimately made the hiking more fun because we climbed on rocks a lot. And the views were amazing. In the evenings we just ate a lot of good food and drank wine in front of the fireplace. Basically a holiday that I needed (a lot). And they surprised me by baking me a cake and giving me a few presents for my upcoming birthday, which was super sweet of them.

After maybe a week of being back in Melbourne, three of my friends surprised me by driving from Adelaide to Melbourne for my birthday. I was honestly so shocked and so very happy at the same time. I ended up hanging out with them for 3 days straight (because we had a long weekend) and we also had a birthday dinner on the actual day. These sort of things always make me wonder what I have done to deserve so much in this life.

Two weeks after I flew to Adelaide for Em#s birthday (which she had no idea of). I had already booked the tickets back in May I think. Her sister picked me up from the airport and when we got home I hid behind the couch. When Emma finally emerged from her room to talk to her parents and her sister, I stood up from behind the couch and said “oh hello there.” You could have probably heard the screams to the other side of the town. Besides me surprising her, her mum had also oragnised a surprise brunch for her with all of her friends (everyone ended up staying until 4ish i think) and after that we went and had dinner at a restaurant. Unfortunately I had to leave the next day to get back to work in melbs.

I just recently also visited Perth, which I will write about in my next blog post. Otherwise, summer is finally officially here, the weather is getting warmer and it doesn#t feel like Christmas at all.

Sending you all hugs

Maria
